Founder and CEO of BrPhotonics, 2014, a high-tech startup with accelerated growth in optical communications area developing high end products, LASERs, Modulators, ASICs. Founder of PI-TEC Product Technologies, 2017, developing scientific instrumentation for synchroton detection. From August,2018, CEO of IDEA! Sistemas Eletrônicos, developing deep submicron ASICs and highly integrated photonics devices. Over 15 years of experience in optical communications field, lead 12 optical communications R&D projects, producing 15 patents (INPI), 140+ papers and 20 technological products currently in optical communications market.
Over 20 years of experience in the IT market, Bachelor of Computer Science at UNESP, MBA in business administration, project management specialist and PMP certified. With large professional experience, Paulo Bertolo has worked in several segments of the IT market, such as consulting in communication networks, research and development of telecommunications products and in the microelectronics and photonic packaging industry. For three years managed a PMO at CPqD, an important Brazilian IT research institute. Currently leads the development and production team at PITEC where innovative communication and imaging products are created.

From 2005 to 2016 researcher/manager positions at CPqD Foundation (photonics and optical communications product development). Product development manager at BrPhotonics 2016 to 2017, a high-tech startup optical communications company developing high end products, LASERs, Modulators, ASICs. Co-founder of PI-TEC Product Technologies, 2017, developing scientific instrumentation for synchroton detection. From April, 2017, Technical director of IDEA! Sistemas Eletrônicos, supporting deep submicron ASICs development and highly integrated photonics devices. Over 12 years of experience in optical communications field, producing 5 patents (INPI), 100+ papers and 12 technological products on the market.
Marcos has nearly 20 years of experience and leadership in R&D bridging the gap between the academy and the industry and delivering technology and product innovations to the market world wide. Starting his R&D executive path, from 2014 to 2017 he managed Lenovo´s Innovation Center in Brazil and was responsible for its global innovations program that delivered software-based technology and products to factories and business units abroad. In 2018 he founded his own R&D company to deliver technology and software to the industry. He is Ph.D. in Computer Science (Universiteit Twente, The Netherlands, 2003) and MBA in Enterprise Management (ESAMC, Brazil, 2005) and is author of 2 patents granted in the USA and over 70 papers published in scientific books, periodicals and events world wide. He and his teams have been awarded prizes in the Silicon Valley (ONF - Open Networking Foundation, USA in 2014), in Europe (Ericsson´s best external innovation, Sweden in 2006) and in Brazil (CPqD in 2007 and 2011, Brazilian Symposium of Computer Networks and Distributed Systems in 2011) for science and technology contributions made under his leadership.
