About PITEC

Founded in 2017 in Campinas — often called the “Silicon Valley of Brazil” — PITEC develops and manufactures a broad portfolio of X-ray detectors, spanning multiple sizes, form factors, and vacuum configurations.

PITEC offers both large-area detectors for synchrotron applications (PIMEGA) and compact detectors (RAD), covering a wide range of use cases.

Its origins are closely tied to the development of detector systems for Sirius, Brazil’s fourth-generation synchrotron light source at CNPEM.

High-end infrastructure

Since its early work developing detector systems for Sirius, PITEC has built a strong foundation in deep-tech engineering — and now operates at the forefront of photon-counting imaging technology worldwide.

PITEC covers the entire detector development cycle
in-house — from design and testing to integration and reliability validation — backed by a specialized engineering team and close partnerships with leading international technology institutions.

Technology

PIMEGA and RAD photon-counting detector systems are built on Medipix3RX technology developed at CERN. PITEC also offers custom solutions on either the Medipix3RX or Timepix2 platform, tailored to specific customer requirements.
